Gentlemans Banyan.

This is a printed silk i am going to make my Banyan from.

A Banyan was a gentlemans home coat, used for informal cosy homewear, and also in the mornings. The cape was used because they didnt have to wear the wig.

This Banyan is my inspiration, it is the Banyan belonging to Christian VII of Denmark. Handpainted silk brokade.

This is the cap wich is going to the be used with the banyan.

I am making the extended sleaves wich are false cuffs.

The false cuffs are going to be buttoned in shape with loops and buttons round the top.

This is the right cuff with the loops that catches the buttons from the inside.
