Robe a la francaise with silk chenille embroidery.

This is the embroidery for the blue francaise dress. Its on the overdress and the underskirt.

The threads used are Au Ver A Soie Chenille, and Eterna Stranded silk floss.

This is the working drawing for the dress. Its made of skyblue silk taffeta, and the panels with the embroidery is ivory. Trimmings are made of gathered silk organza.

Here is my watercolour of 2 repeats of the embroidery motif. The red flowers are made from Chenille.

The first tryout of the embroidery. I changed the collours a bit later when i started the real embroidery.

The dress was made in a large size, here is the foundations for the dress.

The corset or stays, was build from the stays in Diderot's encyclopedia.

The stays are made from linnnen, and the pannier is made from cotton.

The pannier was made from my own fantasy because i wanted a very rounded shape in the top.

Here i have started the real embroidery, 2 repeats done for the right panel.

The embroidery on the front underskirt had to be changed a little, because the angle was changed 90 degrees. I changed some of the flowers possition.

Here i have made both panels for the overskirt, and i have to make the embroidery for the bodice. It was shaped strips of taffeta wich i embroidered on.

The bodice is finnished! Its a false front closing to the left side. Pinned with needles.

The sleave frills was made from cotton netting and cotton lace in the edge.

The  finnished dress.
